Hello & Happy October Friends~
Welcome to the “Tricks & Treats” Blog Hop hosted by…
I couldn’t think of a specific trick of mine that hasn’t been shared somewhere before or on Pinterest. Tricks on mine apply to my entire life I guess you could say. My friends say I should be diagnosed with OCD officially, but my mind just functions with order. Everything has a specific place & everything has a specific order, to me at least. So today I am just going to share with you some things I do in my “office area” to keep me organized!
Here I label tubs for all my file folder games.
The tags below [you can’t read] are labeled for 3rd Grade CCSS for organizing the portfolio passages.
This is a sample I have in my room of a “simple” focus board to encourage teachers to do something similar. I believe that something like this keeps the students & teacher on track weekly. It also provides evidence of a focus when people visit your room.
Here’s a sample of where I keep our “Text Talk” wall. In order to build better written comprehension, you need to build better oral comprehension. I believe that you also don’t want to overwhelm students, so I have an arrow pointed to one as a sample.
These are where I keep all my paper files. Everything else is saved online. I have files that I grab often labeled weekly/monthly use, & I have files I grab just a few times a year labeled yearly use.
Here are my 2 shelves that I keep all my personal supplies in. I do not use desk drawers because they just get cluttered quickly with junk & become unorganized. Everything is labeled, my favorite part are my $1 Target buckets that I could write on with my chalk markers! This is where I organize my favorite writing tools.
Being a Literacy Coach I am always finding, copying & making things for my teams. Whenever I have items for my teams I put them in these baskets. Then when I am about to meet with them I just grab their pile & go.
This is a picture of our ELA Common Core Bookmark. I have color coded each grade level & use zip ties to hold them together in order. The zip tie allows teachers to hang easily as well as turn the page easily to the standards they need. The bookmark is the perfect size for teachers to hold while teaching to help them when referring to the academic language, question stems, prompts & more.
Here’s what my K-5 ELA Common Core Bookmarks look like in my room!

Go about half way down the page & you will see ELA Standard Bookmarks.
I suggest using card stock when copying & color coding them as well.

Love the organization! I always forget about zip ties! My husband uses them for everything. Must remember!

Amazing organization! I tend to be organized, but I also almost always have a pile of things I have not put away correctly. The pile is, at least, in a basket. That way it doesn't look messy! Thanks for the freebie!
