Hello Friends~
My friend Amanda over at the Primary Gal brought up a few weeks back in our little group the topic of “Beliefs on Education” & I just love this topic. So many times when this topic is discussed I value everyone’s opinions & thoughts. I believe as educators we all share the same beliefs, but we either rank them differently, say them differently or change them as we grow in our profession. But the bottom line is, we all want the same outcome for our own children & students.
So here are a few of mine…
- I believe that education should be led by those who are continuous learners as well. Meaning, educators that continue their own education either with college courses, professional development, etc… are not only a leader in their profession but a positive & encouraging role model for their students & own children.
- I believe that education should be differentiated. Again it’s like having children, none of them are the same. You have to find different routes & approaches when parenting so you need to do the same when teaching. All students can learn the same standard or have the same outcome, but the route is different for all & educators need to remember that.
- I believe that education can be fun! Why not? Don’t you remember all the fun things you’ve done in your life? There is always a way to make learning enjoyable at any age. You just have to be creative & willing to take chances. Those are the moments students will remember.
- I believe that education should be full of experiences. Just like that saying floating around Pinterest & Facebook… Something like, Tell me & I won’t remember, Teach me & I will remember, Involve me & I will learn… LOVE IT!!! This is the point that you want to reach when students are running & operating the classroom while learning.
- I believe that education should be collaborative. Being alone on your own little island will not help the students learn. You need to collaborate with other educators, team members, families & communities to have the largest impact on student’s learning.
I know I have a few more, but currently these are the most important to me. These are exactly the beliefs that I am trying to practice each & every day when I show up at school.
What are your beliefs?
Head on over to The Primary Gal’s Blog to read more & share your own beliefs!

I love your first statement about education being led by those who are continuous learners. Mentally, I am adding that to my list:) I kept mine pretty short & sweet, but you can check it out here: SweetSchoolMoments:Facebook

I love your belief about education being collaborative. It can be so hard these days to find time to collaborate, but it is essential. Thanks for sharing!
